Academy Open Day - July 22nd
Back 2 the Beat in association with Sound Attak is delighted to announce that there will be an open day on July 22nd from 1pm at the Cowdray Arms, Cowdray Avenue, Colchester, introducing the forthcoming ‘Back 2 the Beat Drum Academy’ opening right here in Colchester from September 2006. This is an opportunity to meet Steve Timms and his team and find out what a great opportunity the Academy is for keen drummers in this area. You will see some great kit playing and percussion demonstrations, there will be a selection of open lessons running throughout the afternoon and lots, lots more….
Sound Attak will be presenting a brand new ‘Mapex Voyager Rock Kit in ‘sexy silver’ to the winner of the Back 2 the Beat Drum Kit Competition, for details of how to enter see local press or click here.
Everyone who completes a registration form at the open day will also be entered into a free Prize draw to win one term’s free tuition at Colchester or Clacton Drum Academies starting in September.
The Back 2 the Beat Drum Academy will offer its students the opportunity to participate in practical classes where they will cover Drum techniques, rudiments, coordination, Drum notation and reading. They will participate in a selection of workshops from Latin Percussion through the various rhythm section skills, culminating in live performances given in our end of year show. This will provide our students with an opportunity to show case there skills as many professionals from across the industry will be present.
In addition our students will have the opportunity to learn about band and studio equipment, How to ‘choose it and use it’. attend clinics, master classes and live performance workshops. Any students taking extra exams in any of the rhythm section skills, will be offered the opportunity of having their project pieces recorded in a professional studio.
